The only part of this analysis I take issue with is the fact that you haven't seen The Godfather.

Seems fine to me. Not really in the position to accept offers like Carolina did for Staal. Boston has been pretty inconsistent so far but they have a chance in the Atlantic for sure.

Is there still the option that Boston will pay Eriksson 6M per or is it really impossible cap wise?

Honestly, this makes no sense. Why would anyone trade a top 6 (plus a pick and prospect) for a top 6 ufa? Way too high of a price... I think a 1st and prior first or second rounder prospect would have been fair.

Not impossible to sign him at 6 million, but tough to do. If Don can sign him for 5.5 or 5.75, he is a genius.

IMO unless the rental is an elite type player, giving up anything more than a 1st and 2nd is stupid.

No, Ladd isn't Elite.

Loui will have his rights traded for a low to mid round pick like soderberg. Sweeney/Neely aren't business geniuses, they will cut their losses and seek a mediocre replacement in free agency or just hope a younger player can fill the void. (Much like this year on D).

My two cents until they prove me wrong.

The media is actually getting this one right.

The Bs wanted and were told to make the playoffs at all costs. So if the asking price is sooooooo crazy that no one would be willing to bite then so be it. They needed a top six guy OR top four to ENSURE they make it to the show.

Please do not be mistaken, this is all about getting those GATE DOLLARS for a couple home games.

Screw the future and potential growth and development. Average gets us playoff gates.

Welcome back to the Jacobs family (frank) fest.

I hate the Jacobs Family! I wish they sold the team and bought the pathetic Bills teams........go back to Buffalo.

Watched the Wings and Hawks...........wow those teams are sweet to watch. So much youth.

And the Hawks are above them all.

Sweeney was asking way too much if that's true, but you guys should resign him anyway

Am I the only one who thinks picking up JML and Stepniak were good moves? JML adds grew depth on the blue line and I think Stepniak will click well on the bergy marshy line. Those 2 were on my radar since before Christmas. I was surprised as
Sweeney managed to get both. Obvs I would rather see them go after an eberle or shattenkirk but I don't it was possible at this deadline.

i like the moves, nobody else got shattenkirk or eberle, so that probably wasn't a realistic option this year. the draft picks they gave up might become something, but they have alot of other draft picks as well. also, its too late to tank for draft picks, and as far as letting the kids get experience, they've been doing that for 60 games, they can do it again next year. i like play off hockey alot more when the bruins are on tv, even if it is only for 4 games haha.

No I like the additions as well but Liles was a bit expensive. D market was not cheap (as usual).

True, but if he took a little package we'd all be on here b!tching about that so really i'd rather keep him than take like 2 2nds or a medium prospect and a pick.

That price doesn't make any sense. You can't get a top 6 forward or a top 4 D with term for a rental and get more on top of it. Erikson's a top 6 forward without term, can't get a similar player back with contract. If it was the bruins adding a pick or prospect, then you could do it. Erikson and a 2nd could get you a top 6 forward with maybe a year left on his contract, or a pending RFA the other team didn't think they had cap space for. Even then, teams looking at rentals aren't going to give up roster players who can help them in the playoffs.

Drink every time you see Kevan Miller, Jimmy Hayes or Brett Connolly on the ice tonight. Drink every time there is a defensive blunder by the bruins. Drink every time they pan over to CLOAD and he looks disappointed.

If you are watching or listening to the game with Jack Edwards announcing, do six shots and shotgun 2 beers because you will need it.

Have fun guys!

The TDL was stagnant n lacklustre.
Cap uncertainty n nobody moving 1sts.
Not surprised tbh not much happened in a boring TDL.

I thought keeping Eriksson was smart if they didn't get a great return for him although I didn't think JML was a good pickup.

Do you guys see this team making noise in the playoffs?

As much as I won't cheer for you guys, I have the Bruins as 2nd/3rd favorite to make the finals out of the east.

Very deep up front but not deep enough on the back line to make too much noise. Never know with a hot goalie and how unpredictable the east is but Washington & TB are much better at this time and who I would want to avoid in round one.

yeah,.. I think if we only drink on defensive blunders, I'll be in no shape to drive. Side note, was visiting a friend in NY who has the NHL ticket, and after watching both bruins games and a buffalo game, and listening to commentators who arent Jack edwards.. I have a new appreciation for him.
